Rakesh is a seasoned tax professional with two decades of experience in Big 4 firms across the Middle East and India. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (21st rank) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Commerce graduate from the University of Mumbai. At Dhruva, he leads a corporate and international tax team, advising a broad range of clients—both local and international. His sectoral experience spans across family offices, oil and gas, financial services, healthcare, media, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, and services. Prior to joining Dhruva, Rakesh held senior tax roles in Big 4 firms in Oman and India.
In his career, Rakesh has played a key role in shaping tax practices and contributing to industry initiatives. His areas of focus include structuring inbound and outbound investments, advising on collaborations and joint ventures, and navigating the intricacies of exemptions and reliefs. He has advised on permanent establishment matters, tax treaty interpretations, Pillar Two and BEPS-related issues, as well as tax holiday claims for large multinational groups operating across the Middle East, India, and Europe.
Rakesh has successfully represented clients in high-stake and complex tax disputes, including serving as a special representative in a matter before the London Court of International Arbitration. He also has a wider practical experience in transfer pricing, global mobility, and indirect tax matters. He has led projects involving tax technology, tax governance, process transformation, and regulatory engagements. He shares insights through technical seminars and thought leadership publications.
